Raleigh ranks among the more popular cities in North Carolina. Millions of travelers stream through the city each year to attend the numerous summer events, concerts, and festivals that Raleigh puts on. You can check out some of the top events to see what you can do on your own trip.

PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series

If you ever wished that you could watch your favorite films on a really big screen, now is your chance. The PNV Downtown Raleigh Movie Series starts in May and runs through July. Locals and visitors have the chance to sit down and watch films on a screen that is almost as big as a city building in downtown. You’ll need to bring your own chairs and get there early to secure a good spot. Though you can bring along your own snacks, there are lots of food trucks set up in the vicinity that sell full meals and snacks too.

Raleigh Rib Fest

Anyone who loves barbecue and delicious ribs will want to head to Raleigh in July for the annual Rob Fest. This festival features contests for those who smoke and grill their own meats and tasting for those who just want to sample those dishes. You’ll also find bands playing and vendors selling souvenirs you can take back home, including sauces you can use with dishes on your own grill and grilling accessories.

Triangle Veg Fest

The triangle refers to Raleigh and two other cities that form a triangle in this region of North Caroline. One of the events taking place in this area that you won’t want to miss is the Triangle Veg Fest. Scheduled for the last weekend in August, it features a 5K run/walk that raises money for local charities and guest speakers on both Saturday and Sunday. Those guests speakers talk about the importance of healthy eating and what you can do to get in shape.

Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo

If you love sampling dishes and trying foods that you never had before, you’ll love the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo. This rodeo takes place on the first or second Saturday of every month. There is even one in October for those traveling to the city in the fall. The city sets aside 11 city blocks for food trucks to set up on, and more than 50 trucks from all across the state come and set up. As there are seating areas set up on each block, you can leave your chairs at the hotel.
