4th of july

Are you excited for the 4th of July festivities this year? As you plan out your celebration, check out some of the awesome events that Raleigh will be hosing this Independence Day.

Downtown Raleigh will once again be hosting “The Works,” an all-day celebration running from noon to 10:00pm on Fayetteville Street. One of the many great things about “The Works” is that the event itself is free to attend. You can listen to live music and watch a number of performers, including the Cirque de Vol street performers and a BMX bike stunt show. If you need to cool down with a beverage after watching the aerial and acrobatic displays, there will be a beer and wine tent where you can purchase drinks. The street will also be lined with popular food and art vendors. If you are feeling up to it, there will even be a hot dog eating contest that you could participate in or just watch. The celebration will culminate with an explosive fireworks show over The Duke Energy Center starting at around 9:30pm. Since “The Works” runs for most of the day, you could come and go throughout the day as you go around the city to some of the other exciting options available to you this 4th of July in Raleigh.

In addition to “The Works,” the downtown area is home to many restaurants and bars, some of which will be hosting 4th of July events. Level Up Kitchen and Barcadium will be having a trivia night from 8pm to 10pm, as well as free arcade games throughout the day, and The Raleigh Times Bar will host a 4th of July party that will include music, drinks, and a food truck.

If you are looking for a family-friendly event, the N.C. State Capitol in Raleigh will also be hosting a 4th of July party open to the public. The Capitol is a National Historical Landmark, and will have live music, historical and military displays and reenactments, and other family-friendly activities from noon to 4:00pm. Another close by family-friendly event is the Festival of the Eno along the Eno River, where there will be music, food, drinks, and crafts for kids.
